Picture this, it is the night before the big proposal. Josh and I have been planning this for a few weeks now, working out details, planning out a special spot for him to pop the question AND how to get the love of his life Hannah outside in the cold without being suspicious. Then BAM! Mother nature hits us with a very unexpected snow storm over Seneca Lake. AH! So now what do we do?!
I rolled up to Belhurst Castle, mid snow storm with my side kick Jennifer, and we were greeted by Josh who had snuck downstairs to meet us and come up with a plan b, which ended up being the most perfect plan ever!
The snow was falling gently, the lake was calm, and Hannah had no idea, Josh was about to pop the question, while Jen and I waited quietly in the background to capture it all! It was like a scene out of a Hallmark movie, Josh got down on one knee, took Hannah’s hand, and she said YES!! We all celebrated together and then walked all around the grounds to take some of the most beautiful winter images we could have created. The snow created this incredible romantic and fun vibe, that I really strive for in all my sessions!
Hannah and Josh, congratulations to you both! I cannot wait for your wedding day and all the goodness we are going to create together!!

HOW DID YOU MEET?!:
“ We both met at the hospital we work at in the intensive care unit. Hannah is a Speech and Language Pathologist and I am a Registered Nurse. “ – Josh
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE ACTIVITIES TO DO TOGETHER?
“ Hannah and I both love to spend time outdoors! Living not far from the Adirondack park, we both love to hike, camp, kayak, and snowshoe. Hannah’s family also owns a llama farm and we both love to spend time visiting with the animals.’“ – Josh
JOSH, TELL US HOW YOU PULLED OFF THIS EPIC PROPOSAL!
“This proposal would not have been possible without your impressive help and support. Hannah and I initially planned a trip to Key West but had to change plans. We decided it would be smarter to stay local within NY, but still wanted to explore somewhere that neither of us have been to before.
After looking into the Finger Lakes area and Belhurst Castle we both fell in love. Between the picturesque lakeside view, the vintage guest rooms inside the castle, a couple’s spa, and a continuous red wine spigot- I knew this was the spot to finally pop the question!
Since it was just going to be the two of us, I wanted to make sure that I could plan to have the special event captures so that we could share it with our family and friends. I truly lucked out with finding you (Dani). Your work has by far exceeded my expectations. You helped me create a perfect proposal that I’ve been told “looked like it was out of a Hallmark movie”. I also think it was in God’s hands that it snowed; just the perfect amount and at the precise time we planned for this proposal and photoshoot.”
HANNAH, DID YOU HAVE ANY IDEA?! WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST REACTION?
“ Talking about getting married was a frequent topic of discussion in our home, however, I left the timing of getting engaged in Josh’s hands. The possibility of a proposal while we were away crossed my mind, but I told myself not to get my hopes up. When it didn’t happen on Tuesday night (the night before), I told myself that maybe he was waiting until later in the week? Or maybe a bit closer to the holidays? Josh completely caught me off guard by popping the question the following morning… in the snow!! I had prayed for this day for so long and I am not kidding when I say it was more special than I could have ever imagined! I’m pretty sure I blacked out when he got down on one knee because I could not believe the moment I had been dreaming of for so long was actually happening. I am so grateful for the pictures you took that we will cherish forever!”
WHAT ELSE DID YOU DO DURING YOUR VISIT TO THE FINGER LAKES?!
“ We ate, shopped, and enjoyed a lot of wine, craft beer, and Moscow mules! After our stay at Belhurst we traveled and stayed in the Watkins Glen area of Seneca Lake for a couple more nights. We also were able to get some hikes in at both Watkins Glen State Park and at Taughannock Falls. On our drive home we stopped through the quaint village of Seneca Falls to visit the It’s a Wonderful Life Museum. We both fell in love with this area and would love to plan to come back again in the summer!”
